Interactive Tattoo Exhibit
Tattoos can be a significant part of the healing process for trauma survivors. They can transform pain into symbols of resilience, reclaim ownership of one's narrative, and bridge emotional and physical scars with empowering art on the body.
Sadly, tattoos are often stigmatized, and their potential for healing is not widely recognized. To challenge this stigma and discuss the healing power of tattoos, I interviewed tattoo artists and created an interactive exhibit that allows visitors to experience (temporary) tattoos firsthand.
Below is the exhibit and other parts of the project!
Pitch Deck
Marked & Healing Exhibit
This showcase features three tattoos and the compelling stories that accompany them, insights offered by three participating artists who lent their expertise to the project, and guidance on how to interact with the interactive installation.
Take Home Element
To enhance the experience of my exhibit and it’s interactive feature, I've developed informational packets for attendees to take with them. This helps to facilitate ongoing learning beyond the gallery walls.
Interactive Tattoo Element
To show people first hand the ways tattoos can change the way you feel and see yourself, I created a process called ‘skin printing’ an adaptation of the screenprinting process to allow people to understand my exhibit more.
